THE HAGUE - COMPLETE INTERIOR

The residents of this detached (existing) newly built house in The Hague wanted more balance in their interior. They were looking for an urban atmosphere in which calmness had to dominate. Traditional but contemporary. Joeri Koolhoven, “It is always important to ensure unity in an interior. This can be achieved by using a few base colours and recurring materials. In order to do so I used window frames and multiple window doors in a style that elaborates on the architecture of the house. The bay window, the radiator cabinet and the panelling were also designed with the sametheme. We even extended it to the laundry and storage room. The continuous oak floor and the colour palette of off-white, anthracite and beige do the rest: the spaces flow into each other and thus ensure harmony.”  

Storage space
The space under the sloping roof of the washing and storage space is optimally utilized by designing a low cupboard wall on both sides. This created a lot of storage space with plenty of utility space above it.

The bedroom
The bedroom was turned into an ensuite: cupboards were placed on both sides of the passageway. The high bar above the passageway crowns the design.

Ceiling high doors 
Ceiling high doors give allure to the design. The window division is based on that of original doors elsewhere in the house. 

Play and game room
The slanted walls were also used to create storage space in the play and game room for the children. The cabinets are kept low because of the spaciousness and the possibility of putting things like a television on them.
