The Hendrik table was designed using the technical knowledge from a historical architectural book by the famous architect Hendrik Peter Berlage. Joeri Koolhoven, “Berlage’s roof constructions inspired me when designing the base of this table. If a construction can carry a roof, it must certainly be able to carry a table top! That construction is not immediately visible, it’s hidden a little, like a refined clockwork mechanism in a beautiful watch. The table can also be fitted with a wider leg that carries a longer top.”
The table top is divided into various parts with nut bulbs. It seems to have been secured with wooden nails, such as roof boarding. Each part has a function. The Hendrik table is a marvellous example of craftsmanship.
